It’s almost a preface for this fantastic brand new Brett’s book, “Bank 4.0â€. You will learn that the biggest Bank in the world at the end of next decade will be phenomenal at technology delivery. Banking everywhere, Never at a Bank. But, if you did not read “Augmentedâ€, so my friend, you have two books left to read in 2019.

In my opinion, Brett reached the highest level at Bank 4.0, that reflects his increased experience that accumulated through the years passed by in the financial/banking world in different hats and different landscapes.As a time-limited professional, I had a great pleasure with reading this book by knowing that it has a tremendous amount of research and hard work behind. I thought to myself If I try to do this research on my own, accessing such amount valuable insight on financial services domain could take ages. However, Brett has done the heavy lifting for everyone and put such a valuable information in a nutshell as a book. This is an effort that should be appreciated and respected. The book is full of interesting facts and examples, that are used in the right context and right way.In the book, “First Principles Design Thinking and its application to Banking†is one of the major topics explained so well, it put so many “WHYs†and “HOWs†in the Financial world into a reasonable context. In very brief terms, Brett suggested starting from zero instead of keeping improving the existing latency structures in the bank. Of course, there are many more key topics detailed like Experience Design, Data Science and Digital CEO etc. It is quite likely that readers would like Digitalization Scorecard that was presented in the conclusion part. But there is no guarantee that most traditional bankers would be happy with everything written in Bank 4.0 😊As a strong believer of Open Banking Ecosystem, I got so much leads to investigate further how to make the best use of available Fintechs, APIs and other technologies. Embedded Banking practices shared is very good and importance of providing “Real Time†banking services boldly underlined. Brett’s combination of facts with case studies and how “redesign by first principles “ is key to a banks success is essential reading to all bankers, Fintech and Bigtech . Analysts are better of listening to Brett’s ideas as the future valuation of banks and tech companies will be very different compared to the story thus far .
