I am young in the workforce by definition. I work in the Silicon Valley tech scene and very quickly promoted to a leadership position as our young company scaled. I personally think management books are very bias and you need to be careful on which lessons you heed and by whom. Additionally, this book strays away from individual perspectives on the subject and focuses more on the qualified research over decades of material presented to the Harvard Business Review. Personally speaking, the book taught me the most on leadership and management and I 100% performed at my peak after applying these principles with my team. I will not spoil anything, but there is one specific lesson I could reference form this publication that handedly changed my career, but I'll save it for those determined to strengthen their corporate arsenal as I did.

The first two articles authored or coauthors by Goleman don't taste good. The point he was trying to make might be alright. But as he was trying to sell emotional intelligence so hard, he used so much absolute terms and strong languages without clearly presenting the case. It feels too much as a sales pitch. I didn't feel I got much after reading those two articles. It was just another popular business article and lacked substance.But I do like many other articles. Still worth the time. But I should have skipped the first two.

Excellent primer on what Emotional Intelligence is and why it's so important in the workplace. Quick read and will allow you to decide what areas you need improvement to focus on. Must read.

It's a great and easy read. I love the HBR books so worth the money and time it takes to read them.

This is a good quick topical view of emotional intelligence. If you are looking for something more in depth about eq then this isn't the book.

This is a classic. I read it and loved it. For me I don't get why the iq score doesn't show other types of intellect.

Couldn't make it past 10%CERN director, supposedly a physicist and a man of science behaves like a kid, making far going conclusios from nearly absent evidence. No scientist would ever thought like that.I see a symbol — that must be illuminati. Find them! What? What do you mean illumati do not exist? But the symbols is there, so your words must be a lie!And all that considering, no one ever saw an illumati insigna before, according to Dan Brown.This is a disgustingly primitive and illogical book.

As always, Dan Brown does not fail to entertain and keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Angels and Demons, although written first, was just as exciting as the Da Vinci code. I read this on my Kindle and I was surprised by the number of chapters - 137 - and page numbers were not synced with the paper edition. But, nevermind, the length, it was a page turner and the short chapters did make it go quickly. I read this while on vacation and it was a great way to make a 4 hour plane ride go quickly. It has been a while since I saw the movie, but I think that the movie script did not follow the book as closely as the Da Vinci Code did and there were some minor differences with the characters, but the overall plot was the same. If you are looking for an exciting book that makes you think, gives factual information that maybe you didn't know and thoroughly keeps you involved and entertained, then this is the book for you.

Short chapters that span about one day propel the pace of this book. I didn’t want to put it down. It surprised me, entertained me, and even made me laugh in a couple of spots. I had to suspend disbelief for two events in the last few chapters. Maybe the science supports what happens, maybe it doesn’t, but my skepticism didn’t spoil my enjoyment. No purple prose—just excellent writing.

I read this a long time ago after reading the DaVinci Code.Essentially, this is the same format. Same excellent lead character, who goes on another thrilling, intelligent and twisty adventure! This is kind of like a smarter version of the National Tresure movies. Very entertaining, and highly recommended if the other things listed appeal to you!

This is a great suspenseful, intelligent, thriller that has been well researched by Mr Brown by going to the actual Vatican city in Rome as he does with all his Robert Langdon books, which I also highly recommend. I started with The DaVinci Code and then went on to read the others in the proper order. It doesn't really matter which order you read them in honestly because they're all their own separate adventures that don't really need you to know what happened in the previous books because Mr Brown doesn't make any reference to them in each book but believe me when I tell you if you like to read a good intelligent adventure novel and don't mind that it teaches you a little history while you read it then you'll love Angels & Demons. This is the first book in the Robert Langdon novels and has to do with religious scholar history and symbology throughout but now in a boring way at all I assure you. It sets a pretty good pace in the storytelling so you don't feel like you're struggling to get through the book. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The next book is the DaVinci Code then The Lost Symbol and finally his newest book which was released in 2013, Inferno. All great books and all very well researched. A lot of people like to go to the different countries mentioned in these books and see the actual piecesbof art and landmarks mentioned in these books because they're real. Mr Brown has been there. Actually researched these things in person to give the reader a sense of realism like no author I've ever come across. He's the real deal and I think any intelligent reader would love his robert Langdon series.

Details and twists and turns move this plot along and will have you turning pages and not wanting to put it down.The amount of research that must have gone into this book in the locations alone must have been daunting. It turns a work of fiction into a believable, well plotted book.Have fun with this one.

Like many others, I started this series with the DaVinci Code, and after learning about Angels and Demons I tried to read it. The first time I failed and was never able to get into the story. Finally I found the time and inspiration to sit down and finish this book. I was pleasantly surprised. It is not necessary to read this book before reading the DaVinci Code since the story's are quite separate from each other, but after reading this book I was able to understand some of the comments that were said in the second book. I like the way that Landon was written, and the story progressed. I felt as if the story kept me guessing and wishing for more.

I'll admit, it was a little slow going at first. But i also switched genes when picking up this book, so that probably had something to do with it. After that show start, though!! I could hardly put the book down! I was guessing and gasping and loving every second of it. Once it picks up,everything is fast paced in such a perfect, "edge of your seat" kind of way. Thor wasn't the first Langdon book I've read, and it won't be the last, either. (I guessed right on the big thing, by the way, and i was super proud of myself.)

There are a few mug cake cookbooks on the market right now. The reason I chose this one was because the recipes were simpler than others (no butter or eggs). I tried the chocolate mug cake in the book preview and it was delicious! It tasted more like a brownie than a chocolate cake but tasty nonetheless. Since I don't like my cakes too sweet, I modified the recipe simply by adding less chocolate.If you go on Kirbie's Cravings (author's blog), you can check out a bunch of her other mug cake recipes if you're still on the fence about purchasing this. Lots of easy recipes with pretty pictures; I spent hours sifting through her posts! I can tell the author has put a lot of thought into creating the recipes for both her blog and this cookbook so I'm always happy to support such commitment.The book is flexibound so it's paperback, but it's of very high quality. The flexibound also means that you can lay the book down flat and refer back to it when you're baking. The pages are colorful and include lots of high resolution photos. I can't wait to start making more mug cakes, especially the savory ones!

These are way too easy and too much fun. I’m having a blast trying different ones. And I already have a number of favorites marked. One single serving when you need a sweet treat without baking a cake or a full batch of cookies

Love all the recipes in this cookbook. They are easy to make with easy cleanup and no extra cake to tempt you later. No need to make a huge cake or cookies when you can use these recipes for single serve.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas, and she now has a mug cake almost every day. In fact, her siblings are frequently asking to borrow her book so they can have mug cakes too. The recipes are pretty simple overall, and use mostly common ingredients; plus there is a lot of variety in the offerings. They are hard to mess up; once little sister poured too much milk in and the cake turned out just great. For high altitude, I suggest reducing the baking soda/powder by half; add a dash of salt to bring out the flavors. All in all, lots of fun for the whole family.

I like these recipes because they taste good when I substitute Soy for the milk. I'm always looking for dairy free recipes

I've been utilizing the blog versions of these recipes for so long, it's nice to have them in print form. Pictures are beautiful, recipes are simple, and satisfying my sweet tooth has never been quicker. Thanks Kirbie! ;)

Great read up til the term mansplaning was used that brought the whole up til then carefuly made atmosphere crashing down. Left a nasty odor over the rest of the book.

This is a long tale but a good one. Well written, but for some editing issues. Definitely read this if you like something very unique. A talking cat due to a spell, the cruel upbringing of a "guttersnipe", and a princess caught up in the dangers and intrigue in a kingdom in trouble. Lots of adventure, danger, and chaos. A page turner.

Hope there are more books to come. Read it with my black cat beside me. Would recommend to anybody who enjoys well crafted fantasy.

I enjoyed the book, but was looking for a sequel... otherwise a very enjoyable quick read. Lots of magical adventurr.

Every fiction book has certain elements that must exist within it.Setting, Characters, plot, description, and actual writingSetting: The book takes place in a fantasy city. The impression I had was that it was very loosely based off of London (my opinion only!). While the author did a decent job at the setting, there were no wow moments where the author went really creative. The flip side is also true. There was no real moments where the location made no sense.Characters: I felt this is the area that the author did a relatively good job. The characters felt unique and had their own specific place in the story. The author clearly spent time trying to understand the characters motives for doing any action. There was depth to the characters as each of the characters didn't necessarily stick entirely to a script.Plot: The author had a good starting concept, except the problem was that the author tried to do too much. There is a larger over reaching plotline that will span several books (probably as much as the author can milk it), and then each character somewhat has their own plots. The problem is that overarching storyline is too hinted at and completely obvious. It would have been nicer to have it toned back especially as this was the first book in a series. The author could have expanded it without it hitting us over the head with what was going to happen.Description: The author did an excellent job describing places, objects, and people. Not much more to say about that.Actual writing: I can't say that I was very impressed with the writing. I think the author tried to be funny, but carried things past the joke level. There were decent one-liners but nothing really humorous in the book. Some of concepts in the book felt haphazardly thrown in without enough thought on if it actually made sense. I think the author could have done a better job toning down modern influences in the story. As far as grammar goes, some authors can really pull off bad grammar in their writing and making it add to the overall effect. I think the author should do more studying on that area because instead of increasing the effect, it just came off as bad grammar. Honestly it made some parts of the book difficult to read.Overall: I would give it a 3. There were no wow moments. It wasn't horrible by any stretch. There was just nothing memorable to it. A decent read but that is all.

Perhaps more geared for a younger audience. Also and I admit I'm biased in this regard, I'm getting very tired of stories that should be completed in one book being turned into a series.Not a bad read, but not worth it to me to order the next book in the series.

I won this book as part of a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.A talking cat, a misfit boy, a princess and a witch hunter. What could be better than that? Not much honestly. Although I admit this is not my typical go-to genre, I really enjoyed it. Well written with an engaging story and fascinating characters, this is a book I would recommend to anyone.....especially people who like talking cats. Can't wait for the sequel.
