In this book you will learn how to draw a convertible, a MONSTER truck, a Ferrari, a dirt bike, a semitruck, a Jeep, a motorcycle and an Indy car. You don't have to have aspirations of becoming an illustrator or cartoonist to have a passion for drawing, but after reading this book . . . VROOOOM! You'll be drawing like crazy and might just think about it!In the first couple of pages you will learn, in three simple steps, how to utilize some very basic geometric shapes to begin creating your vehicle. You'll also be given some helpful hints to think about before you even start. This is where your ability to follow directions will come in very handy. Once you begin you will find step-by-step instructions for each vehicle you want to draw. Each vehicle has a short, interesting vignette about it. For example: "What can jump distances of 115 feet (35 meters) and crush as many as twenty-five cars? Monster trucks!" The paragraph goes on to mention several different types that are "ready to rumble and race." Once you complete your drawing the last step is to color it.This is one of those "WOW" books that will thrill any youngster who happens to get a copy. The directions are very clear, concise and the visuals accompanying the directions are easy to follow. My first attempt at drawing a convertible didn't look exactly like the picture, but was a very gratifying experience because it really looked wonderful. I did use a template for the wheels as my confidence level for making the perfect circle was not high. Some of the drawings are more difficult than others, but all are doable with practice and patience. If you want to be a big hit with a youngster, simply purchase the needed materials along with the book and give it as a gift. This book is definitely a first place winner! VROOOM! VROOOM!

Lots of Knock-knock Jokes for Kids is a paperback book written by Whee Winn. This book includes more than 250 short and simple jokes for kids of all ages (which of course includes dads and grandpas) to tell one another.The jokes in this book are easy to remember, which is great for kids like my 5 year old son who seem to forget what they're talking about 2/3 of the way through whatever it is that they are saying. These jokes are also clean and do not use any gross or graphic humor. This would be a fun book for a rainy or snowy day or to include in a child's Christmas stocking or Easter basket. It would also be fun as part of a birthday gift that might also include some funny stuff like a whoopee cushion or a Minions Fart Blaster toy (ask me how I know about these things).Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for writing an honest review. I did not receive any other compensation.

I bought this book for a 5 year old who is a little joker. The book is 121 pages long, with soft pages and smaller dimensions - great for little hands. I've reviewed most of it in pretty good detail. The funniest part of the book isn't even the knock knock jokes - it's Section 8's bonus riddles. Those I found to be hilarious, and they span about 20 pages. The rest of the book, the knock knock piece, is 'okay'. There is too much repetition of the punchline "open the door" and "let me in". They are used so much that the joke gets old fast. The Name Knock Knock jokes alone go on for 36 pages and is the largest category in the book. I really think it should be pared down to something more in line with the ~10 pages allocated to the other categories of knock knock jokes. Other categories include Place Jokes, Holiday Jokes, Food Jokes, Animal Jokes, Object Jokes and a category for "Other".

Knock Knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad you get to listen to all of my new knock knock jokes?Yikes. My grandson is having a blast with these jokes. It is perfectly leveled for his age (5) and he LOVES memorizing each one and telling everyone he meets each joke. I am so happy I bought this because they are jokes that he can understand as young as he is.

I bought this book as a gift exchange gift for school. The jokes are nice and corny, exactly what kids love. We had to stay under $5 so it was a perfect price point. It does the job, the cover is nice and colorful, the pages were basic black and white. perfect for young kids who bend pages. Exactly what we were looking for and didn't have to leave the house to get it.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but 20 knock-knock jokes in to the 2500 repertoire has me rethinking the purchase! Oh well, my six year old daughter loves it and is sharing with her younger brother, so now they're both in on the act. It is also improving her reading, as she readily picks it up multiple times a day, so all in all I suppose it's worth the repetition. And I must admit, some of the jokes are pretty funny!

Granddaughter loves to make up jokes that weren't really funny, though she thought they were funny... so her mommy asked for joke books little N, birthday. Short enough for first or second grader to memorize.Some jokes had to be explained to her, so adults should be aware of this.Nice little book, easy for her to read.

My little daughter loves knock knock jokes so this was a perfect book for her. The jokes are simple, easy to read and I love that the jokes are broken down by chapter/subject. The only down fall is that it was shipped in a soft envelope and delivered to my small mailbox. When I opened the package the spine was bent which was disappointing but not worth the hassle of returning for a new one.

I bought this "Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids" for my seven-year old grandson. He loves it. He reads the jokes to anyone who is willing to listen. He also remembers a lot of the Knock-Knock Jokes, and has built up a repertoire of Knock-Knock Jokes, a must for a seven-year old.I highly recommend this book.

My 7 year old LOVES this book. Very simple jokes for young kids to tell and understand. Kid appropriate.

Where I really learn from Dream Theater is when I read this score while the CD is playing. Because, after all, this book really is a very thorough score for the album, allowing you to watch at least two of the parts in action (guitar and voice), plus the occasional piano part written out. Since I play both piano and guitar, and sing, it's like having a partial orchestration provided for my education. And I do learn from this music. You will, too, and that can only help your own technical ability. Of course, you really need to know how to read music (and quickly, in some sections) to read the book while the CD is playing. As Petrucci says in another book, regular practice is the greatest boost to proficiency - so if you get this book, read thru it with the studio recording, and practice regularly, you will learn how to play this music. Maybe not as well, maybe not as spontaneously, but there are so many techniques here you'll gain a solid foundation for rock playing and writing. Not a bad return on your $25 investment, as long as you're willing to put in the time, too.Not every page is going to surprise you, because there's a lot of repetition in DT's music and usually with enough subtle variation that few shortcuts can be taken and still remain faithful to the original songs. You'll see that here. You'll also see plenty of "Riffs" and "Rhythm Figures", too. Again, the trick is to see how they constructed their songs and appreciate both the repetition and the changes.You will learn from this book, which is an excellent transcription of the guitar and voice parts, and I think you'll enjoy it every step of the way. 5 stars simply because this is such a great resource for any guitarist's education -- and it's such great music, too.

Not a knock on the content (hence 2 stars) but this is terrible. It appears to be a PDF rendering of the original content and the placed on to kindle format. The music looks as though it is about 20ft away and does not zoom. Perhaps it is better on an actual kindle as I am using this for iphone and Mac, but this is clearly not a true kindle format. caveat emptor....

This is THE book you should buy if you consider a DT fan and you play guitar.Finally I can "try" to play all those classic songs of scenes from a memory with the real notations, that trust me; are very different for those internet tabs.

Not too much to say. If you're looking for a transcription of this album, this is a good quality one with no errors that I can hear.

As long as I was there I was planning on getting done what I thought I had been sent to do. In typical fashion, when on a deadline (mine not theirs), I was expecting to work late and on the weekend. Well no, they left on time and definitely were not working the weekend. Hmmm. Really enjoyed working with them but my rush was definitely not their rush. But enough of that...now this little gem would have helped to set the stage for that trip and I only wish I would have had it to prepare me somewhat for working with people who speak the same language but approach work with a different attitude. It is eye opening and I know it will help in the future as I am exposed to other cultures and nationalities.

Got this book for a required class to earn international studies certificate. Very common sense yet useful if considering working in a very culturally diverse workforce or moving internationally.

The majority of this book feels a little redundant and obvious, but the book tries to teach some very valuable lessons, which I can appreciate.

It was on my suggested reading list. It arrived safely and on time. I thought the content was a little below the level I'd have liked, but that is my personal preference.

It is a good introduction to cultural awareness, but the kindle version is full of typos. Simple things like repeating the same word or phrase over phrase over.

This is the perfect combination of popularly presented information with enough scholarly backup to make it legitimate.It was exactly what I needed to prepare a presentation at an international engineering conference where the interest was in more practical approaches rather than academic research.

This is a wonderful book and I get different insights every time I read it. The book describes the basic scale which creates a knowledge about how to understand culture difference, the awareness on self and other's styles in workplace, and the skills and behaviors in handling different situations. A great book on cross culture management for business.

After much researching for the perfect devotional book, I love Amy Welborn's book!! Each day begins with a bible passage, a short story which goes along with the verse, followed by a short prayer. It can be used year after year. I would definitely recommend this book.

I have just started this devotional, but I truly love it! I love her short little stories and her short prayer at the end. I want to pray the prayers for myself. I totally recommend the book.

This is wonderful. A great meditation for each day. I look forward to the new day and new reading. Great reminder to look up and be comforted every day.

Sure to be the next big thing in the Shonen Jump world, MHA is already gaining enough momentum to be mentioned in the same discussions as One Piece or Naruto. The story is perfect for non-Japanese audiences as well as it has created a world which is both familiar for superhero fans while offering something very new and refreshing. It engages the audience as you feel for the main character Deku as he faces many trials and tribulations with a healthy dose of triumph. The plethora of characters are rich in personality and engaging. After reading the first volume, I`m completely hooked!! I can`t wait for the next volume and more!!The translation work done by Caleb Cook is worthy of it`s own review. It`s too often times the case that the translation is poorly done and god forbid gets in the way of the story. However, Caleb Cook`s translation is written in a way that is smooth and beautifully supplements the manga. A way that is NOT obtrusive. In addition, it`s clear that Caleb Cook has extensive experience in not only the Japanese language but the culture of Japan as well. As a half-Japanese half-American, I see too many obvious cases of translations being too literal or on the flip side much is lost in translation. This is not the case at all for this series. The subtle nuances of the Japanese language as well as culture is beautifully conveyed. I look forward to Caleb Cook`s future works in this series as well as other mangas.

Not wanting to accept reality or rather his "destiny", Izuku sets out, in anyway possible, to become a hero like his role model All Might. It isn't until he actually meets All Might that he is given his first real opportunity to become one.Pro's:•Great art style•Interesting characters•A likable and we'll rounded protagonist•Keeps you wanting more•A great start for volume 1Con's:•Can be a slow start for some readers•Has a lot more dialogue than some might be used to.Overall I can gladly say that this is a great first volume to start the series. The story, the characters, and the art style made me fall in love with My Hero Academia and because of this I'm excited to see where the story will go from here. (I already bought the 2nd and 3rd book!)If you like origin stories and need another Shonen Jump manga similar to Naruto or One Piece, and/or are not tired of the hero genre as of yet, then by all means buy this manga!

*My Hero Academia*, by Kohei Horikoshi, is a manga series that is in many ways a tribute to American super-hero comics. From the chapter titles having artwork that emulates the covers of American comic books, and the general style and tone being more in line with American super-hero comics than *shonen* manga, the book is one big shout-out to the American genre.The story takes place in the future where increasing numbers of the populace have developed abilities called "quirks". These abilities help the people who have them to do amazing feats, or sometimes just mundane things that aren't super-useful. They are basically like the mutants in Marvel Comics or meta-humans in DC Comics.Because of this, some people decided to use their new abilities to hurt others and enrich themselves in selfish, illegal, immoral ways. These new super-powered villains are sometimes really difficult, if not impossible, to stop. For ordinary folks or even those with less impressive quirks, at least. For those with powerful enough quirks, such villains can be fought successfully.Such powerfully-endowed folks are able to become professional heroes who are paid by governments world-wide for their services, and some can get fame and fortune by doing so. And this brings us to our story.There is a boy in Japan named Izuku Midoriya who desperately wants to become a hero. To do so, he must attend a "hero school" and he wants to go to the premiered Hero school in his country, the U.A. High School. Unfortunately, he is a quirkless - one of the few people left who has no quirk at all, not even a mundane one.Of course, between the lack of a quirk, the bullying of the only boy in their school to have a powerful quirk, and the mockery of everyone else over his dreams, Midoriya is miserable. When he is saved from attack by his personal hero - and the strongest hero on the planet - All-Might, his fortunes turn around. All-Might is so impressed with his heart that he helps Midoriya fulfill his dreams.So begins the story of this young boy's rise from the victim of bullying and useless dreams, to beginning a journey to friends and becoming the world's greatest hero.This story was really sweet and is, like *Tiger & Bunny* a really unique tale. There are some subversions of typical Japanese genres that seem to uphold American ideas of individualism over Japanese cultural community. It's not subversive, but it does hit points that aren't often hit in Japanese series. Not that the Japanese never value individuality. Japan is a varied country of different viewpoints underneath the cultural conformity. Also, some ideas are everywhere, across cultural lines, just with differing emphases and so forth. But the tone is more American melded with Japanese. It's really quite interesting.I love Japanese culture, though there is bad just as in American culture. It's cool to see shout-outs and other stuff to American genres from a Japanese fan of such. It's as if the opposite of me in Japan wrote a series and such.The characters are also a unique mix of Japanese and American types. And in the notes on some characters, you can see where the mangaka stated he decided to go against some style that his editors asked for. These characters are the ones that have a more American feel to them. There are other characters that are explicitly Japanese styles of characters too.*My Hero Academia* has a fun story wherein the author uses some really unique mixes of Japanese and American tropes and styles. It's one of my favorite series in manga or otherwise, and one that I highly recommend.

i can talk so much of how great this manga but I wouldn't want to spoil anything. I'll limit my comments to the first volume. In the beginning I thought, "just your average protagonist that has no power and will need training." Well that is the case but slowly you start to like him and cheer him on. His reasons may seem standard but he stands out from all the airheads and hotheads in shounen mangas. Another reason My Hero Academia stands out is the setting. Superpowers... Yes but the combination of traditional shounen manga with a DC/Marvel comics feel to it just works so well!! Stop reading this and click purchase!
