Ben and Charlotte live thousands of miles apart, and they have never met in person. But their friendship is one that is true.They understand each other, they support one other through both their major life changes and trials, not to mention they both share their love of online Scrabble. After all, it was online Scrabble that brought them together in the first place. As you read this book, you will see that the book follows the separate lives of Charlotte and Ben all the while it intertwining them together through their shared phone calls. Charlotte is dealing with a health crisis of her father and the sudden coldness from her childhood best friend.Charlotte is struggling with finding someone that can both support her through her family crisis all the while accepting her for who she is. Like Charlotte, Ben's family is going through their own challenges. Ben's parents have sucker-punched him with a sudden announcement that they will be getting a divorce. Ben never saw it coming. Now, he is left to deal with his shock and anger of the breaking apart of his family.In order to distract from the drama at home, Ben decides to run for a Class Office. The only thing I didn't like about this book (spoiler) is that the main characters, shy sensitive people are brutally humiliated and simply shrug it off. This is not realistic.

My 11-year-old has loved Erin Entrada Kelly since reading her first book and she loves You Go First as well. She even tells her friends at school about the books! I would HIGHLY recommend.

There was nothing I didn't like. This was a fast and easy read for me and one that I will recommend to my students. It is a wonderful story of two potential "misfits" and how they connect over on-line Scrabble. The issues they encounter are all too common in real life school situations. Great story; great characters.

Spectacular as usual from this author...friendship and life and learning who we are...I want everyone I know to read it.

Ihave been a photographer for over half a century. I have worked in a wide variety of photo positions, from U2 and RF4C to labs etc. Ms. McKinnell has pointed out several things that will make my current love, Birds, and how to make a shoot more productive. Exactly what I was looking for.

I read the reviews prior to my purchase and it was exactly my experience. She writes in a way my 7yr old grandson could understand, which is important when beginning to develop your skills in photography. I felt like she was sharing secrets over a cup of coffee. I never considered planning prior to going out to shoot but it made so much sense. A must read for new photographers !

Some of the tips in this book might strike the experienced photographer as "intuitively obvious to the casual observer". Nonetheless, it doesn't hurt to review the basics from time to time, and this book did that at a reasonable price.

I'm a big believer in planning to the smallest detail: I plan everything when I embark on a photo trip. Perhaps that is why I did not find this book to be very useful as I already was familiar with everything the author talked about. I ended up returning it. It didn't help that the images were ho-hum, and if I may say so, I usually do better.Note that this book is not about photography. It is all about planning and preparing for a photo trip and something about image backup.Consider purchasing this book only if you are not a planner as it will give you good, practical tips. The price is very reasonable (it does not cost more than a cup of coffee). However, if you are already more than a snapshooter, there is probably little value in buying this book.

I enjoy photography and travel so it was nice to see the subject addressed really well. The author uses basic but well worth repeated guidelines for planning a successful travel and photography exercise. A lot of folks want nothing more then a few mementos of their vacation with the family trip while others seek a solo journey into a new and unknown setting. This e-book has something for every one while being an easy good read. Having traveled quite a bit myself, I still gained some valuable reminders from Ms. Anne McKinnell's writings. If you are planning any sort of journey that includes minimal or expanded photographic endeavors it will be well worth your time to take a look at "Before The Shutter: Planning Your Next Travel..."

Although I have been an amateur photographer for years, her ideas for preparation and research will no doubt improve my photography quite a bit. I would love to read more of her photography instruction.

This little book is a really great buy for both the beginner and the enthusiast! I have been in photography for over 60 years and found many things contained that help, particularly with the newer digital cameras! So thanks, Anne and thank you Amazon for making it available!

I'm not saying this is a bad book, it's just not for me. It's really all about her routine, and or planning. Nothing really gave me any inspiration or ideas when I finished. But it's just my view, so read on.

Grandad Mke Ryan loved "Mister Daly" and said he was a kind, caring gentleman who cared about his workers unlike Clark who was the opposite. This book gripped me from the get go and never let me loose. I go to the graveyard where the folks in this story are buried and reflect on their lives and am happy that their story is so well told. It's a tribute to us who worked in this area and lived and died with the old copper collar around our necks. Now if the author would sign my book before I have to hunt him down in Missoula.

Really loved this book. Probably the best book out on the largest underground mine disaster in America, plus some very interesting facts about early Montana history and National history.

I'm a Montana history buff, but this is one of the best books I've ever read on any subject - I only wish it was twice as long so I had twice as much enjoyment. Mr. Punke weaves the unique and intensely interesting history of Butte, MT in through the worst hard rock mining disaster in our country's experience to deliver a narrative this is at the same time gripping and emotional.

I landed in Butte in 16' & spent the day taking it all in. I love the history of this city, read this book, visit Butte Mt.

I was interested in this book because my paternal grandfather worked in mining in Butte and died of "miners consumption" just 2 months before the mining disaster of 1917. There was good information in the book about living conditions at that time. My paternal grandmother died of Spanish flu 6 months after her husband leaving the 3 children orphaned.

Outstanding read. One of the best written books.

Fire and Brimstone represents one of the best combinations of accurate historical documentation, with countless examples of word for word quotation, making the events which define Butte's landscape to this day seem as though they happened only last week. Heroes are remembered and chaos is represented in such a manner that puts the boring history classes of childhood to shame. This book is a required work for any truly involved study of the history of Butte, more so that of 18th century mining America.
