The year is 2011.I bought this book for $11.98.It was printed in 1997.This book is 14 years out of date.Great historical reference, but only worth about $3.00 in my opinion. Useful for generally learning about VBScript, but VBScript seems to have changed enough in the past 14 years that significant portions of this book are no longer accurate.

This is the best VBScript book and I've never felt the need to get another one. It's accessible to a novice (which I was when I first bought it) but has enough depth and richness of information to still be used as a reference guide now that I have over 5 years of experience. I can look up all the functions in it quickly (easy to forget syntax when you're programming in VBScript and client-side JavaScript at the same time), since I've marked the pages with post-it tabs, and it's well organized so that I can find things quickly even if I haven't marked them. Sure, it doesn't describe some of the newer language features that came out after it was published, but still it will work 95% of the time. I notice the same author worked on the O'Reilly VBScript in a Nutshell book, so I might check that out, but generally I don't like the Nutshell books as much because they don't have code samples.

The Active X control pad has been superceeded by DHTML. This book presented a method of creating menus on web pages that no longer works. If you don't have the latest Internet Explorer, this book is for you, but if you have Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 7, this book is practically obsolete. A new edition needs to be released.

I won't be long and all i will say is that I knew almost nothing about vbscript before I read this book and by the time I finished it I had enough knowledge and tools to program rather complicated codes! The only bad point is that the book is quite old and covers only versions 1.0 and 2.0 and requires some updating from the msn web site. But in the end of the day Paul Lomax is realy amazing and the book is really really good.

This book is NOT for complete novices like me! Terms like "OCX", "32-bit", and "server-side includes" are used but not explained at all. With some help from other books, some of the material made sense. That said, there is a lot of good content in this book. I'd recommend a more introductory book (is there one?) for true rookies.

I had been developing strictly with perl for Unix, when I needed to do some work on an NT platform I ordered this book. I used it coupled with O'Reilly's ASP in a nutshell and finished the job quickly. It is a great reference for migrating from other scripting languages.

Don't let the lack of pictures fool you into thinking that this book is for experts only. This is an excellent desktop reference as well as a good teaching tools. The CD-ROM is comprehensive, and the examples cover just about everything.

E.B White never disappoints. This is such an endearing book that communicates hard work, differences, and perseverance in such a creative way. This is a family read aloud for us, and my ten and five year old boys both really enjoy it.

This is the first chapter book that we completed for our homeschool read aloud! It was easy for me to read, and my 7 year old son was able to narrate it well. I love Sam Beaver's character and his appreciation for nature, living things, and journaling. He's a great role model for children. I'm glad that there was a happy ending and we were able to celebrate this as our first big chapter book that we completed.

Excellent natural history, teaching of human-animal behavior, and vocabulary. The story is intriguing and absorbing, good "chapter" book to keep children and parents coming back for more. Worked great for home schooling to study the set up of books and progression of a story. Many characters to interact and keep everyone's attention.

This audio version is narrated by the author and there is always something magical about listening to an author read their own work. Also, a very skilled trumpeter plays at appropriate times throughout the story. This makes a marvelous story even more spectacular. This audio version is a treasure. My son and I really enjoyed listening to it together.

If you love Stuart Little and Charlotte's web you're going to like this one too.

I read this book when I was a kid and loved it. My cousin's son like's books about animals and I was really happy to find a copy like the one I had read that has some pictures scattered through the book to guide the imagination.

I'm a third grade teacher and I read this book to my students every year and every year it is their favorite. The story is so far out there and so imaginative that the reader can't help but get hooked. I love it!There are two illustrated versions of this book but this one is definitely the nicer one. It's really nice that it's now available as an ebook because I can project the images for all to see.

The Trumpet of the Swan turned out to be another big hit for my family and I to share together. You know you have a big hit with my kids when they will do whatever you ask of them just so you will sit there and read the next chapter!!TOTS is told from a number of different perspectives. It starts off from the perspective of Sam Beaver, a young boy from Montana on vacation with his father in the Canadian Wilderness. Sam is an introspective young man. He likes to explore and think by himself, he worries about his future, and he keeps a journal where he asks himself questions to ponder every night before he goes to sleep. My 8-year-old Noah was quite taken with that idea and I am getting a journal book of his own to write down his thoughts and make little pictures to keep. Sam is also brave and patient. His patience pays off when one day the Mother Swan and her Cob allow their new cygnets to meet him. And that is how Sam meets Lois, the little swan without a voice. In a very tender moment little Lois, who has no voice, pulls Sam's shoe lace as a way to say hello. The imagination of my young sons were so inspired with what it would take to have a wild bird like Lois come that close to them. We can't even get the stray cats in our neighborhood to stand still long enough for a pat on the head!!The Cob and his wife have come to Canada for the purpose of raising a family. The first couple of chapters are dedicated to the challenges of building a nest and hatching the young cygnets. This is my favorite part of the book! The cob, is a master orator! He never says in anything in 5 words when 50 will do much better! He is arrogant, verbose, flamboyant and charming. He cracked us all up more than once!But the central character in the book is Lois the swan, a trumpeter swan without a voice! As it turns out this is a major birth defect for this young swan if he ever hopes to communicate with his fellow swans, but particularly if he ever hopes to woo and court a female trumpeter swan. Lois sets out on his own to learn how to communicate and with the help of Sam Beaver, he learns to read and write! With his trusty chalkboard and pencil he certainly can communicate with people. But swans cannot read. My children were mortified at the illustration of Lois swimming around with the sign saying "I love you" trying to woo the swan of his dreams, Serena. Love even makes swans surrender some of their dignity I guess.Thanks to bold and brave actions by the cob, Lois does get a voice through a regular musical trumpet! This series of events sets on on a path that leads him to Ontario, Boston, Philadelphia and then eventually through the American South andthen back up to Montana.For geography, tracking Lois's adventures on the map and learning about each of these places can make for interesting lessons. [...]The Trumpet of the Swan is a family story, a love story, and adventure story, and a comedy. I highly recommend it for the entire family!

I am still interested in reading this e-book but the way it is assembled,makes it impossible. Please help me and all future Kindle customers who might want to order it. One of my kids originally found this book at a book fair in the 90's, and wore it out during the years. I was so happy to find a great copy on Amazon - the drawings are beautiful and honestly when I am forming the letters when finger spelling the alphabet, I can see those pictures in my head even after all these years.

This is a must-have for the classroom! We use it in The Story of Written Language and in The Human Body. You could also very easily use it in an Art class. The drawings of the hands are just gorgeous.

I love this book, it is beautifully illustrated. This was one of my favorite books to check out from the library when in first grade. It sparked my love and interest in ASL. Now I use it in activities with kiddos I work with who are non-verbal and learning sign.

I am late deafened adult and this book helped me learn sign the American Sign Language Alphabet. The beautiful pictures helped me remember the alphabet letter signs which then helped me learn how to spell words. I have gone a long way in learning ASL since then and I am still learning.

I taught American Sign Language last year, and I loved using this book for an artistic display of the manual alphabet. I felt bad tearing the pages out, but I had purchased 2 copies because it was priced so well! All my students loved looking at the pictures on the wall, which were especially helpful for students who had trouble remembering particular letters. The artistry is wonderful, definitely recommend!

I've only tried one recipe from this book, Curried Kabocha Coconut Soup (didn't have access to kabocha so I used acorn squash). I personally didn't fall head over heels for it, but the folks that did said that it reminded them of lobster bisque. I will make it again, but I will cut down the 3/4 cup of dried shrimp to 1/4, was just a little fishy for my taste. The gal that owns the local Asian market flipped through the book and thought all the recipes looked solid. Can't wait to try another one!Something to think of before buying this book...do you have access to the ingredients? This isn't American knock-off Thai food. This is good, hearty, authentic Thai. Right from home! If you're not the adventurous type this may not be the book for you. All of the ethnic ingredients are available here on Amazon. But I see a lot of reviewers leaving bad reviews because the ingredients for any given cook book are not available at the standard market. Simple, healthy food. I love Thai Curries. I've been spending a fortune on boxed curries from Marian's Kitchen. With this book, I can do it all from scratch. This book doesn't disappoint!

Just finished reading this book. It is a great starter book if you want to learn Thai cooking. All the basics are here, curry pastes, broth recipes, and Thai favourites like Pad Thai.There is also commentary by the author about the history of Thai food and a thorough section on ingredients.

Finally, I can make thai food at home. The biggest drawback is there aren't pictures to accompany each recipe. That makes me sad, but I also thought that "throw everything into a slow cooker" is supposed to be easy, and these recipes are AMAZING, frankly, but it really has you make the curry from scratch which involves a plethora of spices and requires me to wash a second appliance and a few more dishes. That being said, when I have time to be a purist, I enjoy having the option of making my own curry.I've made some criticisms here, but the fact is my 5 stars are for the recipes and not about my convenience. I've only made 5 recipes so far but I'm probably going to use this book up pretty quickly. Everything has tasted delicious, even when my dear non-cooking husband took a crack at it.

This cookbook is ideal for someone who is interested in trying Thai food.This book teaches you how to prepare your food before you put it in the slower cooker.Its great for those who have a very busy live and what Thai food but dont want to pay the cost of the restuarants.It has recipes for soups and Noodles and curry.It also has a recipes for spring rolls.This book also tells some history also.It is a great book for everyone who knows how to cook or that dont know how to cook.These recipes are for the whole family and are healthy.I will be making my own thai food for now on.

As we have bern expanding our international slow cooker repiroire, Thai cuisine is a wonderful addition. The vegetarian dishes are excellent and we love the introduction to new flavors at home. We've stocked our Thai pantry with procucts from Amazon and local grocers too.

I love me some Asian food but my fiancé is super picky. I hate cooking so we came to an agreement that he has to “widen his palate” in exchange for my time in the kitchen. Using a slow cooker is my favorite “hands-off” cooking approach so this cookbook was super awesome to me!I like the ability to be able to substitute where necessary and still getting a very similarly delicious meal. The recipes are written out very well and the background info about Thai food, info about the ingredients you’re using and just the little helpful hints are great for beginner “chefs” like me. I personally want “easier” meal prep but once a week or so, this is perfect…plus, once I throw it in there, I leave it and Go!*product received in exchange for honest review*

Offers a few interesting ideas on marketing a dental savings plan, particularly to the 65+ crowd. Easy, fun read. I'd hoped that the book would have provided better details in designing and implementing a savings plan in my office. It seems to me that its designed more as a tool to spark your interest in his consulting based services instead, which appears to include packages for implementing a plan in your office. In that sense, it works well, as it piqued my interest in what Dr Phelps can provide in that area.If you're looking for a useful "how-to" guide for creating and running a dental savings plan in your office, however, this probably isn't it.

Calling this a "book" is generous. It's 108 pages size 16 font including the title page, acknowledgments, forward, etc. Not worth $30. All this information can be easily gathered from podcasts or blogs. I am already bought into the idea of an in-office membership plan. I was hoping for a much more detailed book describing suggestions for day to day logistics.

I highly recommend this book to any dental practice that wants to benefit from recurring revenue, patient retention, and running a hassle free practice by reducing your dependancy on dental insurance. I met Dr Phelps early this year beacause we both have helped many dental practices create membership programs and I have enjoyed his books, presentations, articles and expertise. Buy this book now and you won't regret it!!

My headline says it all, but I'll go ahead and add one more thing. If you're a practice owner looking for a way to bring in the unicorn of all patients: happy cash ones that stick with you year after year... then read this book! Dr. Phelps lays it out for you. The only way it could be easier is if he actually came to you, took you by the hand, and personally walked you through each step. And he actually offers that option as well.

It was pretty much everything that was told in his online presentation. Very little new material.Good just not great.

If you are willing to put in the work, this book has some great ideas for growing the impact and revenue of your dental practice!

Dr. Phelps did an awesome job writing this book. He goes into detail about how to create a dental membership plan to provide savings to patients who want dental care but aren't sure how it can fit into your budget.The book is very personal which helped me feel more connected to Dr. Phelps and made me realize that if he can do it, so can I.He goes over the many steps you need to take to create a membership plan such as: - What to include - How to market it - he even shows you graphics he used to market it - What fee you should charge and when - How to handle perio patients - How to handle third-party financing such as Care Credit - How to get patients to renew their membership yearlyHe does all of this while talking to you like you are a personal friend. He gives you all of the information that you need to do this yourself, and if you don't wnat to do it on your own, he does offer his services for a fee at the end of the book. While he does sell a service to dentists related to dental membership plans, he isn't pushy like some dentist-authors who try to sell to you on every page or at the end of each chapter.Overall, this is a very valuable book and will help grow your practice immensely if you put Dr. Phelps' suggestions into practice.
