This is a much needed book at this time when enemies and the heedless attack Abu Hanifa, who is one of the four colossal pillars of the magnificent edifice of Islamic Scholarship. In fact, the slanderers of the Imam are indirectly attacking Islam itself whether they realize or not. The reason the perpetrators choose to attack Abau Hanifa rather than the other three Imams is that more than half of the Muslim world follows him. If they can succeed in their defamation of the Imam and make people shun him, they will have duped more than half of the Muslim world. The author brings testimonies from many hadith masters such as Yahya bin Maeen and Abdullah bin Mubarak,(who were contemporaries of the Imam), who declare the mastery of Abu Hanifa in hadith science. Once you have the testimonies of the hadith masters of the highest eminence, who knew the Imam personally, does it make sense to rely upon the distortions parroted by those who have come 13 centuries later?
This is a very biased book. Author quotes from some of the prominent scholars of islam, many of whom are promoters of the Hanafi sect, and the author concludes that because Abu hanifa was mentioned by these scholars he is the greatest scholar. This is pure nonsense. There is no imam greater than Prophet Muhammad(saw). The author promotes sectarianism among Muslims which is clearly prohibited. The author doesn't even mention many early scholars like imam Bukhari who criticized Abu Hanifa harshly and warned Muslims against him. There are contradictions at some points in author's arguments. At many points the author struggles to support his arguments. The author admits that some of the narrations about Abu Hanifa were fabricated (in fact many of them were). There are redundancies.. same argument being repeated. The bracketed additions to the translation by the translator and the same footnotes being repeated throughout the book make it very hard to read.
